Position Overview

A growing consulting firm serving nonprofit, philanthropic, and mission-driven organizations is seeking a Senior Consultant to support multiple concurrent client engagements. The role combines project management, client relationship management, fundraising strategy, research, analysis, communications, and high-quality deliverable execution. Level will be determined based on experience and readiness to independently lead client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple client engagements and projects simultaneously, maintaining schedules, calendars, tasks, action items, and other planning tools to ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare agendas, meeting notes, follow-up items, project updates, and other materials that keep internal and external stakeholders aligned.
  • Develop, write, edit, and coordinate high-quality client deliverables including proposals, development plans, progress reports, donor communications, prospect research, presentations, and collateral.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, respond to client needs professionally, and build strong, trusted working relationships.
  • Research individual, foundation, and corporate donor prospects and prepare clear, actionable prospect profiles.
  • Review data, conduct analysis, identify key findings, and translate research into practical recommendations for clients.
  • Advise clients on fundraising, communications, operations, project execution, and management-related questions as appropriate to level and experience.
  • Coordinate internal and external contributors, follow up on deliverables, and maintain quality control across projects.
  • Support business development and client retention through excellent service, identification of client needs, proposal and pitch support, renewal discussions, and participation in selected conferences or events.
  • For Senior Consultant-level candidates, lead select client accounts and complex projects and provide training or mentoring support to junior team members.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional experience, including at least 1–2 years in fundraising, development, advancement, philanthropy, nonprofit consulting, or a closely related area.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations, fundraising programs, donor engagement, or philanthropic institutions strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to create structure, manage competing priorities, and drive work forward with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare polished client-facing materials.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information and develop practical recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients, colleagues, donors, partners, or other external stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Ability to spend regular time in the Denver metro area office and participate in occasional travel for client meetings, conferences, or events.

Preferred Backgrounds
Candidates may come from a range of backgrounds, including: nonprofit development, advancement, annual giving, major gifts support, donor relations, fundraising consulting, philanthropic services, foundation relations, nonprofit program management, strategic partnerships, or client-facing consulting.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is organized, self-directed, collaborative, and comfortable moving between strategic thinking and detailed execution. They can manage multiple workstreams, communicate clearly with clients and colleagues, produce thoughtful written work, and build trusted relationships while helping nonprofit and philanthropic organizations strengthen their fundraising and operations.
